Merry Christmas!!...well, a few days late.
We had a really wonderful day. The kids woke up around 7:30 and immediately went down to see what Santa had left them. Anne was thrilled when she saw the doll house that she wished for but thought was already sold!
My new kicks...these guys have been sitting on my wishlist on Amazon for about 3 months and Michael surprised me with them!
My favorite.  The reading of the Christmas story.
Next up we were off to Gran and Dink's for turkey, dressing, cranberry salad, and lots of fun!
The kids opened more toys and then spent a lot of time playing outside on their new tricycles and wagons.
Uncle Aby couldn't let the kids have all the fun!
And Michael and I got this amazing painting from Adam.  I was totally tearing up when I opened it and can't believe how much talent that boy has.  I'm so excited to hang it in my house!

One of my favorite things during the holidays is the Christmas services.  Our church doesn't offer a Christmas eve service so it's always fun to visit one of our downtown churches where lots of our friends go.
This year Anne and I walked over to the Presbyterian church where our friend Connie goes to church.  We decided it wouldn't be very fun to try and wrestle a toddler for an hour, so Michael stayed home with Liam.
When we lit our candles and sang Silent Night, I couldn't help but feel very emotional.  It's so so easy to get wrapped up in the busyness of life and forget what it's really all about.  I am unbelievably thankful for Jesus and his sacrificial life so that I might have a relationship with God.  I hope that I'm living in a way that my children recognize that fact.

I felt like I needed to do a Liam update since it's been a while.  Over the past couple of months this child has changed so much.  He's starting to make complete sentences when he talks and understands pretty much whatever we say to him.  Unfortunately, he's not always obedient to the things we tell him.

Things he loves:
choo choo trains, Santa, Christmas lights, balls, playing the piano, dancing to music, watching Curious George and Thomas the Train, shoes, bath time,

Things he doesn't love:
being told no, getting in the car seat (pretty much anything that's holding him down),

Things he says:
hello, hey, choo choo, santa, christmas tree, anne, mama, daddy, B (as in aunt B), bobby (for uncle adam), papa, pepper, milk, shoe, sock, bath, bye bye, outside, teetee, George, beep beep...and really lots of other words and phrases that I can't think of at the moment.  He's like a parrot, repeating everything he hears!
We've introduced him to the potty and he loves to sing and dance to the potty song after he goes!

We sure do love this little boy.  He makes life a lot more interesting and a lot more fun!

This afternoon Anne had a few friends over and we made Christmas candy and cookies.  Since we didn't have a ton of time, we used prepackaged sugar cookie dough.  I definitely want to try and make my own next year!
The girls had a blast decorating and making chocolate covered pretzels.  This cookie icing is the real deal.  It dries just like royal cool.
Memaw came over for the festivities too.
I love these little girls and am so thankful that Anne has such sweet friends.

My beautiful and talented sister took some family pictures of us last weekend.  It is crazy how hard you have to work to get a decent picture with an almost 2 year old running around!  We were literally throwing Liam into the air in between photos just to try and get him to smile.   Thankfully she got a few that I just LOVE.
I went cheap again this year, and ordered photo cards from Walgreens.  I always want those nice paper cards that people send, but in the end I really hate spending hundreds of dollars for something like Christmas cards.  It also doesn't help that I'm usually just now getting around to ordering, so it's a little late to get the high quality cards.
I do wish all of you a merry christmas season.  This is hands down my favorite time of year.  I'm definitely looking forward to two weeks home with my family!

We took the kids to see Santa on Saturday down the street at the antique mall.  He was a really good Santa...a real beard and everything!
Anne told him about the stuffed tiger and doll house that she wants for Christmas.  Unfortunately the doll house already sold...I'm not gonna say to whom. (cough, cough)
Liam just wanted to play with the toys and run around, so a picture with Santa was not on his list of things to do.

He had a nice shiner from falling off the couch and into the coffee table last week.  That's how these things usually go, right?
Now that I'm officially over the flu,  I am really looking forward to enjoying the Christmas season.  Anne and I have a ton of Christmas crafts we want to make and we're trying to find a time to go look at Christmas lights.  Are there any really great light displays that you know of in our area?

Today was the first day all week that I've felt like getting out of bed.  Having the flu does that to you.  Thankfully today was the most festive day of the year with Pancake Day and the Laurel Christmas Parade.
Having been sick, we didn't want to risk getting up close and personal with the folks over at the YWCO to eat pancakes.  So for the first time ever, we got to go plates.
It wasn't so bad, but I sure missed the atmosphere.
Then it was parade time.  We have the longest parade in the state which lasts about an hour every year.  You're bound to see you're friends, family, and co workers at some point.
The WWII planes were new this year.  They flew over right as the parade was starting.
Then there was the JCJC marching band and Mr. Brown.  He was one of Michael and my favorite band directors from Jones.  He's retiring this year which kind of makes me sad, but at the same time, happy for him.
And the grand marshals were two guys from Duck Dynasty...not sure of their names.
After things settled down, we got the kids dressed to go see Santa at the Antique Mall.  This picture of Liam poking Anne completely tickled me.  I could totally see into the future when he's going to be trying his best to get her attention!
Later this evening, we made a grocery run and Liam and I took pictures to entertain us while Michael and Anne went in.  His personality is really starting to shine these days!
We wrapped up the day by driving around and looking at Christmas lights around town.  Everything looks so magical with twinkle lights!
Even our loft is looking pretty festive.

Do y'all have the time hop app?  I have to say, this is a nice little blast from the past each morning.  I always forget about it until that little notification pops up and then I take a minute to stroll down memory lane.
Today's post started with our church Christmas party from 3 years ago.
Then went on to show posts I made on twitter or facebook from this day 3 years ago...some of which make me giggle a little.  I've always hated reading my past posts...they always seem a little silly.
I do love this app though...always a fun way to start the day!

Living in south Mississippi means fall comes a little later and stays a little longer.  Now that most of the country has had their first snow, we're finally seeing some color in the leaves--which is my favorite thing!
We had a nice visit with Michael's dad last week while we were on Thanksgiving break.  He always spoils us by buying lots of junk food and letting us watch too much TV. He snapped some pictures of the kids playing outside one afternoon and I just loved how they turned out.  It was cold out, but it didn't stop them from having a good time!
This pink tricycle was Anne's.  I think she got it for her 3rd Christmas, and now Liam is almost big enough to ride it.  Until then, he's happy with you pushing him on it as long as you don't try to hold the handle bars.  He wants to do all the steering himself!

Happy Thanksgiving!  We're spending the day with family and friends and I've been dreaming about dressing so that's gonna finally happen!  It's been so fun with Liam starting to talk lately.  He'll pretty much repeat anything you say.  Here's a little video we took last week...the good stuff starts about a minute in.

Today when we got home from piano, we noticed all the leaves had fallen off the ginkgo tree outside our building.  I could have sworn they were still on the tree this morning.  It's like this magic fairy came by and scattered all of these beautiful, yellow leaves on our little patch of grass just for us!
Anne and Liam immediately ran and started playing, so I grabbed the camera.
I really can't tell you how thankful I am for this little girl.  She is such a little mama to Liam, and he doesn't know how lucky he is to have her.  I wouldn't make it everyday without her big help!
It wasn't long before we were all piling the leaves up so they could jump in.
Liam helped some...
then he'd wave and say hello to people passing by.
He is seriously the sweetest boy.
Even though it seems impossible, I love these kiddos more every single day.  Life is hard sometimes, but they make even the hardest moments bearable.  I can't remember not being a mama...and I never dreamed that God would bless me with two little humans that were this wonderful.
My heart is definitely full.
