THIS KID

It's pretty much impossible to take a non blurry picture of this baby.  He's constantly on the move.  Tonight he stood without holding on to anything for about 5 seconds.  And everybody is thinking we'll have a walker by Christmas.  I'm wishing time would be still for just a bit and let me revel in right now when life is so good and this baby wants nothing more than my attention.

TRICK OR TREAT: GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARS

We had the best time with our family themed Halloween costumes this year.  It was too perfect to pass up the opportunity to be Goldilocks and the three bears.  I made Michael and my bear head out of paper mache.  It turned out really cool, but maybe not the most practical for wearing trick or treating.  It was pretty hot and difficult to see through the small holes.
Oh well,  at least we got some fun pictures!

We did warn Goldilocks of  breaking and entering....hoping we nipped that one in the bud.

I hope you all had a great night of trick or treating as well!

HALLOWEEN EVE EVE

Trick or treating got moved to tomorrow night instead of Thursday due to possible thunderstorms.  This meant I was down to crunch time to make mine and Michael's bear masks. I'm hoping these will turn out...fingers crossed!!

They will have to dry over night...so we'll see in the morning.

Then we had a tea party and a round of Monopoly Jr.
Not too bad for a Tuesday night.  We sure know how to pack in the fun!

NIGHT RUN

Over the past four weeks Lily and I have been doing the CT5K program.  It's made me so happy to be running again and I'm really excited to finally be seeing some progress.  The runs are getting longer and I can feel my endurance getting stronger.

I went for a run tonight, since I hit snooze too many times to go before school this morning.  I'm kind of glad it worked out though because it was the perfect weather and downtown felt deserted and a little eerie...very halloweenish.  Before it was over it had started to drizzle a little which made for the perfect cool down.

As I finished my last five minute stretch of running, I noticed this cute little number in the window of Elegant Evenings.  Wouldn't it be fun to dress up and wear on a fancy date!?
I'm thinking this may need to happen soon!

LIAM 8 MONTHS

So, this kids turned eight months old about three weeks ago...pure craziness.
He's the happiest, snuggliest baby there ever was!

It's getting kind of difficult to take pictures in this chair because every time I walk away he leans forward and I have to try to catch him before he hits the floor.  Obviously, he thinks this is hilarious.
So, we decided to take a few on the floor before there was a head injury.

Dad tried to make him laugh and yelled really loudly scaring him half to death!
But don't worry, he was back smiling in no time.

Some fun facts about this babe:
-he is eating every thing I put in front of him...so far he's not picky at all!
-he weighs 21 1/2 pounds
-he thinks his big sister hung the moon and laughs every time he catches a glimpse of her
-he's crawling everywhere and has even stood by himself several times
-just cut his fourth tooth...two on bottom and two on top
-he wakes up in the best mood every morning...it's hard to be sad about waking up at 5:30-6 am when he's smiling and giddy to see you!

Basically, we just love him to pieces!

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES AND TRUNK OR TREAT

Today was a good day.  Sleeping in until 9 really helped it get off to a great start! (Can't remember the last time that happened!)  Not long after Lily called to ask if we wanted to go walking on her papaw's land and have a picnic.  I decided this was divine intervention since I had just told Michael that we should have one today.  The weather is just gorgeous and it seemed like a sin to sit inside all day doing laundry and chores.

The girls loved looking for bugs and moths.  We had a strict catch and release policy.

After taking in some of Mississippi's beautiful scenery, we hurried home to get the girls dressed for the downtown trunk or treat.  I thought it'd be fun to dress them as a pilgrim and an indian since we already had the costumes.  And it made me really excited about Thanksgiving coming up.  Only four more school weeks!

I'm so thankful for days like today.

THE FAIR

Tonight Papa took Lily, Anne and me to the fair.  We left Michael at home with the babe since he's been fighting an ear infection for the past week and it was cold (perfect fair weather!!)  Even though we missed them, we had the best time...

The girls rode every kiddy ride in sight and papa and I got our fix on fair foods for the year.

Then we met up with RJ and all rode the Ferris Wheel.  I think I may be a little afraid of heights..not sure I was still breathing while we sat at the top!
This poor funnel cake didn't last long with two six year old girls devouring it!

It was definitely a fun night!  And I'm so thankful my husband has already informed me that I can sleep in in the morning...I'll be taking him up on that offer!

I LIVE IN LAUREL

There is a really beautiful story book coming out soon about our little Laurel. There was a dream team that put it all together and I can't tell you how wonderful it is!  They will be sold at several locations around downtown and also be available for order online starting November 3rd.
Obviously, this book is special to me for so many reasons...it's about Anne, Adam illustrated it, and it's based on my bff's history of laurel.  Erin and her mother are just precious and did an amazing job with the story.  I can't wait to get my copy!!!

1000 GIFTS

I started a new book this past weekend and I couldn't wait to share it with anyone who would listen.  It's 1000 Gifts by Ann Voscamp.  I can see that this book is exactly what I need at this point in life.  If you read my last post, you know what I'm talking about.  I highly recommend it if you are feeling at all stressed, anxious, or just need to be reminded of God's grace.  And if we're honest, we all need to be reminded of that constantly!

YES, WE ARE STILL HERE

I'm posting this blog from my phone...And I hate blogging from my phone. Mostly because I can't size my pictures and who likes typing on their phone?
Several weeks ago Liam sat on my computer screen and killed it. That's been my latest excuse for not writing.
To be honest life has been really hard lately...and since I try very hard to keep this a positive place there hasn't been a whole lot to say. But I miss blogging and thought I'd share what's on my heart.
Everything really is great (when I put things in perspective) but it's just a very hard season for our family at the moment. Michael is working every minute he can on his dissertation, taking a night class, working full time, teaching, and has many responsibilities at church. That just leaves little time for anything else. As Bilbo said, "he's like butter spread over too much bread."
That leaves me feeling very much like a single parent most days.  I don't mind it a lot of the time.  I consider myself a very strong, independent person. But some days it seems like it's more than we can bear.  I know that he loves us more than anything and all of this work will be worth it soon. Soon as in hopefully graduation next December! :)
I love our life.  I am trying my best to enjoy every moment...even the hard ones. I have so much to be thankful for, but it sure will be nice when I get my husband back!
P.S. there's a whole lot more I'd like to share...but at this point this tiny screen is killing my eyes and I don't want to type another word on this phone...so, until next time!
