IT'S FRIDAY!

Hi y'all!
This has been a super busy week...one of those where you have been busy, but you're not sure what you've been doing??  Please tell me I'm not the only one that feels this way sometimes.  Anne's been going to vbs, we did the farmer's market again, and before I knew it, it's Friday!  And thankfully we have very little planned this weekend.

I'm busy cleaning/prepping the house today so I can photo for a house tour next week!  That's the plan anyway.  I've shared bits of our loft with you all but never the whole place, so my goal is to break it up and next week will be HOUSE WEEK here on the blog!  I'm super excited, even though I feel like we still have lots of unfinished spaces.  I decided if I wait until it feels completely finished, it may never happen!
I hope you all enjoy the weekend!

P.S. Liam's face in this photo just killed me.  I love this baby.

WEEKEND PHOTOS FROM THE IPHONE

We took a very quick little beach trip this weekend.  Just long enough to stick our toes in the sand, get rosy cheeks, and eat some yummy food. This was Liam's first beach trip and I'd say it was a success.  His two hours on the beach were spent napping mostly.
Anne also got to experience Build a Bear Workshop for the first time.  I don't know why we've never done this before; it's so much fun!
And this is Snuggle.  She loves slumber parties and can't stop singing "call me maybe!"

I hope you all had a fun weekend!

FESTIVAL SOUTH

The other morning we attended a children's Festival South event at MainStreet Books in Hattiesburg.  It was a reenactment of Green Eggs and Ham.  Mainstreet Books is such a beautiful little bookstore.  I'm wishing that Laurel had one.

Anyone want to open a bookstore with me??!!!
There's still a few things going on with Festival South if you want to make some events.  I'm really wanting to go to this one!

FARMER'S MARKET

One of my favorite times during the summer is getting to go to the farmer's market.  There is nothing better than supporting local artisans and farmers AND getting home grown veggies.  Last Thursday was our second of the summer and I was amazed at the turnout.

These girls enjoyed cookies from Mr. Jeremy and lemonade from Sadie and Emmy.
Adam and I worked together to create the new flags.  I loved the outcome.
Alex was so sweet and let Anne and Lily hangout.
While I made a new friend and discussed our new diets.
What a fun day we had...can't wait for Thursday to roll back around!

DESK MAKEOVER

We bought this desk for $60 from a friend that was moving and needed to get rid of it.  Even though we really didn't have a great place for it, I couldn't pass it up!  We moved it into our living room where Anne quickly took it over as her art desk.  This wasn't a bad idea, except that she had a really hard time keeping her things organized and put away.  Typical behavior for a six year old I think.
So this is what it looked like most of the time.  It was an eye sore and pretty much the first thing you see when you walk up our stairs and into the living area.  It was a constant bother to me...no matter how many times I tried to help Anne "get organized" this is what it ended up looking like a day later.
Now that the upstairs is completely finished, we are slowly setting it up as a play area for her and Liam.   So we decided to move her stuff upstairs and it's neatly stacked on a shelf in baskets for easy access and clean up.  So far this is working great!
Now that this desk is much more presentable, Michael and I have both found ourselves using it often.  He has made a few big break throughs with his dissertation (PTL!!!) and this gives him a nice place to work at home.
I'm so thankful for summer and getting lots of little projects done that have been looming for quite a while!

THANK YOU NOTES

Do you make your children write thank you's?  Do you write thank you notes yourself?  I didn't grow up writing them, but do see the importance in it.  We probably all have a few events that we never finished writing thank you's for...aka, wedding!  I am pretty sure there were quite a few people that never got one from me.  I seriously regret it now.  I hope those people aren't always thinking about it when they see me...and if you are, please know I was/am greatly appreciative of your gift!
I'm trying to teach Anne the importance of writing thank you notes.  Especially to older family members that may be expecting one.  And if we're being honest, it is so nice when you receive a little envelope in the mail that isn't a bill.  A handwritten card really can not be replaced with an email or a private thank you message on facebook (although this is what I resort to most of the time!)  It's just convenient and easy.
I have mixed feeling on the subject, but do know that I want to be better at writing notes to all the kind and generous people in my life.
I would love to hear your thoughts and how you deal with this :)

FIRSTS FOODS

I love this time in baby hood.  Watching a baby try new foods is just too cute and funny.  The best part of Liam trying new foods, is it's inspiring Anne to venture out a little.  She is my picky child, and I'm hoping Liam is more like his mama!
Over the past week, we've given Liam some rice cereal and bananas.  Last night he had fresh avocado...MY favorite!
You can see here that Anne is really thinking hard about trying it.
Here she goes...
...almost there.
Then it was out again.
And I just loved his face here...so funny!
I'd definitely say he loved it!  Anne, not so much. :)  I was very proud of her for trying though.  I still have hope; I didn't start eating avocado until about 4 years ago.  You kind of have to get over that green mushy, slimy look.

P.S.  Liam's hair is killing me right now.  I swear he looks like a 90 year old man!  I'm thinking the blonde hair is coming!

CHORE CHART

Do your kids have chores?  I'll be honest...we have always made Anne help around the house but she's never had specific things that she was responsible for.   But this week we started a chore chart with hopes of making good habits of helping around the house.  I printed this one, but there are tons out there to choose from.  She was already doing lots of these things but I thought it'd be fun for her to see her progress. And who doesn't love to check off a list?

LIAM IS 4 MONTHS

Look who's four months old today!  We bagan the day singing Gigi's happy birthday song :)
I love this boy more every single day and can't remember how we ever lived without him.

We had his check up with the pediatrician on Tuesday and here are a few stats: 16 pounds 5 ounces and 25 inches long...He's a BIG boy!  He is putting everything in his mouth and drooling like crazy.  We're wondering if there are some teeth coming soon.  He is smiling all the time and we've even gotten a few laughs lately.

We're starting solids next week, and I am going to try to make my own food.  We'll see how it goes!

WEEKEND PHOTOS VIA INSTAGRAM

Anne is officially snaggle toothed.
Saturday morning sewing session while Adam taught Anne some origami.
Liam is digging his new high chair....ready to start solids next week!
Sunday was our church's epic summer kick off.  Michael shaved a moustache to celebrate...he is still wearing it today, but I told him it had to go...  I can't look at him without laughing.
We are in full swing of kids camp at the little theater.  Anne is super excited that she gets to be a seahorse!  Show is this upcoming weekend if you're looking for something fun to do with your kids!
