RENOVATIONS

In case you didn't know, we bought a building back in July.
Even though it looks like two separate buildings, it's actually just one.  We live on the 2nd and 3rd floor and rent out the bottom.
It was built sometime in the 1930's and has had several layers of renovation over the years.  The previous owners made some awesome changes to the second floor and even put in the kitchen (which is easily one of my favorite spots in the house.)
After a few months of living here, we've discussed several things that we'd like to do to make it even better.  After months of talking and planning, we actually started the renovating process last week.  We're taking it one project at a time starting with a brand new laundry room/closet/storage area.  Since this is a loft, there are no closets in sight which makes storing unsightly things a bit tricky.
So far, we've knocked out some walls and taken up the floor where we had a pretty insane termite issue.  All I can say is Orkin comes highly recommended from us!
We had a small half bath that we never used, so that will become part of the new laundry area as well.
Now that we're in the midst of this, I'm having a bit of a hard time with all of the dust and misplaced things.  BUT, I have to keep reminding myself that it's all going to be worth it in the end!

OUT TO SCHOOL: MISHA LULU

Oh, this girl can come up with some of the funniest poses :)
Glad we got to wear this little outfit one last time before the cold came in...today we're bundled up in coats and scarves!  I'm definitely not complaining though.  Fall and winter weather just happen to be my favorite!

MATERNITY STYLE: 24 WEEKS

It's hard for me to believe that I'm already 24 weeks pregnant.  In lots of ways it seems like I just found out we were expecting!  I guess I can say that now that the morning sickness has subsided :)
It's really the most amazing thing to have a little life inside you.  I'm trying to enjoy every little kick and movement and not get too hung up on how my body feels awkward and huge!
This pregnancy seems to be going much smoother than my first and for that I'm so thankful!  I know with the holidays coming up this last trimester will go by quickly...which makes me feel a little pressure to get the nursery set up.  But if I don't, hopefully January being a productive month!

NEW PROJECTS

I've been slowly getting back into sewing.  Something that has been way harder than you would imagine.  I've had some new ideas the past few months, but not the time to actually work on them...which is just a little frustrating!
One of the projects that I'm really excited about is a collaboration with Adam, my BIL.  His work is simply amazing and covers most of the walls in our loft.  You should definitely check out his website!
This project is coming along but still a work in progress.
It's gonna be fun! So, all you parents with little girls get ready!!!

31

The celebrating started on Friday when my class threw me a breakfast party and gave me sweet gifts and these beautiful yellow roses.  Then Michael and I snuck away during one of the Annie shows to get dinner at one of our favorite places in Laurel.
Saturday I woke up to breakfast in bed, watched the latest Parenthood episode, then leisurely got up and walked out my front door to help at Loblolly Festival.
It's kind of weird to be in my thirties.  I can remember my mom being in the thirties. Oh well, I've decided life is really full of weirdness and change...bring it on!

P.S. Thanks for all the sweet birthday wishes.  It really was such a special day!

PERSONAL LEAVE

This was not my typical Thursday.  First of all, I took a personal day from work.  For some reason I always feel a little guilty for taking a day just for myself, but it was much needed and almost a necessity I'd say.  With Annie every night and teaching every day, I've been worn out and feeling overwhelmed with daily chores and housework.
Southbound breakfast and catching up with Adam was a perfect start.
We also stopped by Target where I got this really awesome duvet cover 50% off!
and a festive rug :)
Then it was home to laundry and cleaning.  I'm still exhausted but at least I don't have to add a messy house to my list of worries.
How do you justify taking personal days? Do you find it difficult to take a day for yourself?

WEEKEND PHOTOS

Here's a few instagrams from our weekend.  We're in full Annie mode so there probably won't be very much blogging this week.  I hope all of you locals plan to come...the show is looking great!
