I've been wanting to make some type of dress up area for Anne for quite some time.  I had lots of really cool ideas that I wanted try... but when it came down to it, I just wanted to get it done and all of these pouffy dresses out of her small closet!
We ended up buying a small closet rack from Lowe's and just installing it directly to the wall.
It may not be the most creative thing, but it does serve the purpose.  And Anne has been able to enjoy her dress up clothes without a mama constantly telling her not to pull all of that stuff out :)

After hurricane Isaac came through and ruined our camping trip plans for Labor Day weekend, we decided on an impromptu trip 15 minutes down the road to Big Creek this weekend. It took what seemed like forever to pack everything up Friday afternoon and we got there right at dark.  This made setting up camp interesting, but once it was done, we ate sausage dogs and baked beans from the can and then made s'mores.  The Brady's came too, but some how I managed to not get a single picture with any of us together...weird.
I can hardly stand to fry bacon in my house because the smell seems to linger for days...but it's a must for camping trips!
Michael's dad came and brought the Airstream.  We opted to sleep in our tent since the weather was so nice, but it sure was nice for this pregnant girl to have a bathroom so close by!
It was such a nice way to spend the weekend.  I hope we get to go back again soon!

I've been doing lots of dreaming about a nursery lately. I don't really want to go with a certain theme...more of an eclectic feel.  Here's one I've been drooling over.

Obviously, I'm really liking lots of white...just how hard would it be to paint my baby bed?

P.S. I'm starting to feel little baby flutters in my belly and I'm obsessed!  Can't wait until February to meet this little fella!

This girl was all excited about picture day.  I was thankful she finally relented and let me pick out her dress for a change...not without a major discussion though.
It's hard to believe she is in K5, and we'll be having another baby in the near future.  I'm soaking up these last few months of it just being us three.  I'm not sure Anne knows what's coming!

I woke up early Saturday morning unable to fall back asleep (hello pregnancy.)  I laid there for what seemed like forever thinking of alllll the things that I could be doing instead of just lying there.  I remembered that there were several bananas that were overly ripe sitting on my counter and that I haven't had banana bread since the last time Cyndi made it.  I felt a pang of sadness but decided that I should make some, even though I never had except with her.
First thing was to make a trip to the grocery store, then to clean my kitchen.  I can't stand to cook in a dirty kitchen.  I'm sad to say I'm not one of those people that can't sleep with a dirty kitchen.  Out of sight, out of mind, right?
While making the banana bread I decided I'd also make some blueberry muffins.  These are my favorite.

Here are the recipes I used if you're interested.  Both were super easy.

Banana Bread:

  • 3/4 ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar (I used about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch of  salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
Directions: No need for a mixer for this recipe.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  With a wooden spoon, mix butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl.  Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla.  Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in.  Add the flour last, mix.  Pour mixture into a buttered loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour.  Cool on a rack.  Remove pan, slice, and serve warm.
*I used a mini loaf pan and baked for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Blueberry Muffins:
  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, at room temp
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 cups fresh blueberries or 2 1/2 cups frozen blueberries
Directions: 1 Heat oven to 375°. 2 Grease 18 regular-size muffin cups (or 12 large size muffins). 3 In bowl, mix butter until creamy. Add sugar and beat until pale and fluffy. 4 Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. 5 Beat in vanilla, baking powder and salt. 6 With spoon, fold in half of flour then half of milk into batter; repeat. 7 Fold in blueberries. 8 Spoon into muffin cups and sprinkle topping onto each muffin. 9 Bake 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown and springy to touch.

This has been a pretty amazing weekend.  We've had lots of family time (my favorite!) and it was our first fallish day!
I thought our flowers outside our door looked awfully pretty and picture worthy.
Anne and I have worked hard to keep them alive...there were some days that I wondered if they would make it, but a little water always seemed to do the trick. Thanks Erin for letting us use your water spicket!
I made an apple pie and we bought a ladder ball set.
Anne got a new bike that we had to assemble, then she learned to ride it today!
And here's my sweet husband looking too handsome not to snap a photo.  I think he could wear suspenders everyday :)
I still remember the day I learned how to ride a bike.  I told Anne she would probably remember this day forever.  At least I hope she does.  It was the kind of day you wish to never end and never to have to go back inside.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these 80 degree days are here to stay a while and the 90's are waving goodbye.
Now we just have to work on turning and braking!
Hope your weekend was swell too!
