weekend photos: beach trip

I really didn't mean to take a two week hiatus from the blog, but hey it happened...now we'll just move right along!
I thought life would slow down a bit after the musical, but it surely hasn't.  Our school is gearing up for our yearly May Day performance, which is a BIG deal.  If you're in Laurel Friday night, you should stop by 5th avenue for a very special event. Our kids have worked so hard and I can't wait to see them all dressed up in their costumes!
Here's a few instagram photos from the past few days...Sorry if you follow over there and have seen them all!

As you can see, we had a little beach excursion this past weekend.  It was much needed with all the busy-ness.  We are counting down until summer break around here!!!

The show is in full swing now...if you haven't made it yet, we still have seats available for Sunday matinee and our Monday night holdover show!
You don't want to miss it!!!

life lately via instagram photos

These sweet girls got their ears pierced!
We've spent lots of time on the roof grilling and just enjoying the beautiful spring weather.

We celebrated Lily's 5th birthday!
My show makeup makes me feel a little clownish, but fabulous at the same time.
We've been rehearsing everyday since Saturday getting ready for the show. It opens tomorrow night; so make plans to come if you can!

mini maxi dress

Last weekend, Anne was playing dress up in my closet and started putting on this skirt and pretending it was a dress.  I decided it might be really cute as a little maxi dress for her.
It only took about 30 minutes from start to finish.
If you want to make one for your little one, here's how I did it.
1. put skirt around chest and pin where desired.
2. pin and sew from top to bottom along that measurement.
3. cut away excess fabric
4. use excess fabric to make two straps
5. sew straps to dress (I liked the crisscrossed look)
...and there you have it!
Anne just loved it and was so proud telling everyone her mama made it for her.  It made me feel a little guilty that I don't make things for her more often...hopefully there will be more time for that this summer!

new look

Hello friends!
I'm so excited about my new look on the blog.  I worked with Jenny from MaieDae, and can't say enough great things about her!
The process was quick, easy, and tons of fun!
It's got me inspired to do lots of blogging...too bad it doesn't look like that will be happening right away with a show opening next Thursday!
I will be back soon though :)
Have a great day!

house tour: the kitchen

This is probably my favorite room in this apartment...well, at least one of them!  The light from the windows make it bright and cheerful and it's the perfect place where friends and family gravitate to grab a cup of coffee, share a meal together, or just sit at the table and visit.

I'm in love with these posters that Erin designed for our local farmer's market and chili cook off!

I feel beyond blessed to live in such a beautiful place.   Downtown Laurel is definitely the place to be people :)

a new sister

Not only did Easter make this a great weekend, but my BIL, Adam, got engaged!  We have loved Lily since the minute we met her.  Cyndi and I always wondered what kind of girl Adam would marry and if she'd be as close with us as she and I were together.  When we started getting to know Lily, we knew that she was a kindred spirit and a perfect match for Adam.  We are thrilled to have you in our family, Lily..and I'm just plain giddy to have another sister and friend!
Let the fun and planning begin!!!

weekend photos: Easter

This was such a fun weekend.  I have tons of pictures, so I'll let them do most of the story telling.

I'd say someone hates lizards.

How was your Easter?
