starting new projects

With our early arrival of spring/summer weather, it's got me longing for some really cute shorts.  I have found so many online that I love, but am not so crazy about the prices.

I got this (supposedly) easy pattern on sale at Hobby Lobby last week and have started making the first pair.  We'll see how they turn out, and hopefully I'll get some really fun shorts at a great price.  I'm using a striped linen fabric.  So far it seems really slippery and somewhat difficult to work with.  My only hope is that it'll be really forgiving if I have mistakes.
I'll keep you posted on the progress!

What is something you're in the mood to make these days?

the country county fair

Yesterday we had a country county fair at our church.  We could not have asked for better weather...it was absolutely gorgeous!  There was a derby car race, chili cookoff, catch the greased pig, pie eating contest, dunking booth, and pony rides.  I don't think there was one single person that didn't have a smile on their face.  It's so good to walk through life with these people...in the bad times and the good!
If you don't have a church home, we would love for you to visit.  There's just nothing better than having a group of people to walk through life with.

weekend instagrams

All dressed up for the art auction in my new dress from click.

This has been one busy weekend.  It was filled with a crawfish boil, running a 5k, an art auction, and we went to see The Hunger Games...which was great by the way!  Then today was our Country Fair at Church.  It'll be getting it's own post later this week...it was amazing!  I love my church family so much!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

fishing trip

Anne went on her first fishing trip last weekend and caught her first fish.  She was so proud...and I think her daddy and papa were too!  She bored quickly, but had fun as long as the fish were biting. I can't really blame her though.  There's not much more exciting than getting a bite on your line and reeling something in!

life lately

*This little girl makes me smile so much. She's obsessed with glasses right now and this book.
*Even though we just had spring break, I'm already feeling overwhelmed by life.
*Blogging has not been one of my top priorities lately but I promise I plan on getting myself on a schedule soon!
*I still love my job.  It's exhausting but wonderful.
*Spring is officially here.  With that said, we're swimming in pollen and sneezing our heads off around here.
*Anne and I are rehearsing 3 nights a week for our first musical (part of the reason blogging has been lacking)...we are both loving it!

I hope to be back later!

spring break in photos.

I wish I could say that I checked everything off my to do list for spring break.  What I can say is that we've have had a wonderful week!
Anne and I mostly just hung around home...which I didn't mind one bit.  It was so nice to actually have time at home!  We've been soaking up as much of this spring sunshine as we can.  Bad thing is, I can only think that if it's this warm in March what will July look like?!

house tour: the studio

The photo above was the very first picture Cyndi and I took for Hello Dearie.  I'm so thankful that we were able to have such a fun little business together.
Frame was made by my sweet friend Shauna.

Love these three little guys.
Top and bottom are my BIL, Adam Trest's, and the middle I won in a blog give away a few years ago.

I'm so in love with this little area and can't wait to start sewing again.  I originally was going to put my studio upstairs but couldn't resist these windows.  Now Michael and I will be sharing this room.  My side is the sewing area.  His side will be a music area.  I'll share more pictures when his side is all done!
As you can see, I'm still having to use some plastic tubs underneath the table to store extra fabric and stuffing.  Hopefully I'll get more shelving soon!
Who wants to come sew with me???

weekend instagrams

Have I mentioned that I love instagram?  It is the main reason I wanted the iphone.  Pathetic, I know!
Here's a few pictures from this weekend.

On Saturday mom and I had a fun day shopping then lunch at pf changs...maybe one of my all time favorite restaurants.  Sunday I went for a run then the rest of the day was spent being incredibly lazy since my sweet girl was feeling under the weather.  Reading magazines and watching Netflix is the epitome of a perfectly relaxing day!
I'll hopefully be back tomorrow with the start of our house tour sharing my new sewing space!  I'm so so ready to be creating and sewing again!

10 things on spring break.

source
I'm so excited about having a whole week off starting now!
Since Michael will be spending a portion of the week out of town camping, I thought it'd be fun to make a list of fun things that Anne and I can do together...and a few that will be productive :)
1. finish up the sewing room!  I'm so ready to have my studio space finished so I can start sewing again.
2. watch Anne of Green Gables.  I've started reading the abridged book to Anne for a bed time story.  I'm hoping we'll be finished and able to watch the movies next week.
3. taxes.  there's nothing fun about this, but it will be great to be finished!
4.  a day trip to NOLA to see the aquarium
5. day trip to Fairhope, AL for the art show
6. finish planning our Disney trip
7. get some pictures hung
8. go on a picnic
9. write thank you notes to all of my wonderful parents from school.  Teacher appreciation week was amazing...it has it's own little post coming soon!
10.  take lots of photos and do lots of blogging!

Here's to a happy spring break!

I have decided that I really love the color navy and orange/coral together. I see my closet growing with these colors a lot lately.  I am also really excited about these great boots I found on clearance a few weeks ago from Dillard's.  Now is the time to buy boots if you need some!!

I'll be linking up with the Pleated Poppy today if you want to check out some other great outfits!
Happy Wednesday!
