DIY: recovering a lamp shade

As much as I'd love to go out and buy everything brand new for our new apartment, something inside me just hates to be wasteful.  Thankfully we have lots of creative people around that are constantly giving us ideas on how to repurpose or reuse things we already have...things that may or may not be the exact style I'm looking for now.
I had this red lamp shade that really didn't match the look for the living room, so Adam and I decided to try recovering it in burlap.  Here's how we did it.
1. measure the lamp shade around the top and bottom.  (thanks to Adam for doing all of this)
2. we liked the polished look of having seams in our shade, so we cut strips and sewed them together. You'll have a circle of fabric once you've sewn your strips together.
3. pull fabric over shade and hot glue the it to the shade.
4. and voila! You've got yourself a new lampshade :)
I'm really happy with the turnout!
I just put it on this old lamp that I now love again without that red shade!
Happy crafting!
xo, Dawn
