weekly wardrobe: green polka dots on a sunshiney day

If you follow me on twitter or instagram, you know how excited I was to get some special mail from my sweet friends at Click last week.  It didn't take me long to run down to Hattiesburg to scope out their new spring collection in the shop.
This little dress caught my eye and I didn't want to leave without it... It helps that their prices are so reasonable!

outfit details: dress and belt, Click; tights, Hue; sweater, Belk; shoes, Swedish Hasbeens thrifted
..and this day was so beautiful, we had a family picnic right after church.
I'm sure this Mississippi weather will soon be freezing cold again, and we'll drag out the coats and scarves...but for now, we're soaking up the sunshine!

This weekend I went to a good, old fashioned auction.
Dink and I loaded up and headed out around 8:30 to the little community outside of Meridian.
I could honestly say I had never heard of a place called Whynot before.
The auction was held in the old community school auditorium.  It reminded me so much of where I went to elementary school.

It was quite exhilarating to bid on items.
I was excited to come home with a few great things like some of the old light blue mason jars, a candy jar, an old hat rack, a chair, and four boxes of wooden doll house furniture.

More than anything, I enjoyed spending the day with Dink.  It's like being with a living history book when he's around :)

Happy birthday Papa!

We had our first official party at the new place last night celebrating Papa's birthday.  Anne wouldn't rest until we had bought party hats, balloons, and full out birthday decorations.  I'm so glad though; it made it so much more fun!
We feasted on chicken pie, green beans, crescent rolls, and of course, CAKE!

I am so very thankful for this amazing man in our lives.  He is such a blessing to us in more ways than I could ever say.
We love you, Papa!

the sun will come out tomorrow

I mentioned a few weeks back how Anne has been singing this nonstop the past couple of months.  I thought I'd share a little video of her in action.

It's fun to imagine what in the world she may be when she's grown up.
Lord knows she's a performer right now!

This weekend

We'll be tying up some loose ends around the apartment.
I hope to get pictures hung, so it actually looks like someone lives here.
Unpack a few more of those last boxes.
And finish up some promised guest blogs.

Here's to a productive and FUN weekend!!! :)

P.S. I'm also on the search for some new furniture pieces now that 'we're pretty settled.  I'm really jealous of Erin's recent Ikea trip....I've been thinking we need to plan one of our own!

a run through our neighborhood

I went for my first run in our new neighborhood this week.  I won't mention how long it's actually been since my last run...don't ask.
I was quickly overwhelmed by all of the beautiful scenery and history around me.

After my run, I stopped at the fountain beside the Episcopal church.  I felt an overwhelming need to sit and be quiet for a moment.  I tried to really pray and talk to God about things.   There's obviously still lots of hurt around us since the accident, and at times it's more than I can take.  I know that God is good, but there are still times when I wonder why this has happened to our family.
I'm pretty sure these are normal feelings though.

P.S. We are slowly but surely feeling settled here.  There are less boxes everyday, thank goodness!  As soon as things are semi normal, we're having a BIG shindig and inviting all of our friends!!!

picking flowers; what Anne wore

Anne decided to pick Mrs. Erin flowers after our lunch date at La Fleur's today.  It was the sweetest thing watching her pick each one and very meticulously add it to her bouquet.

I just love this kid.

our weekend in instagrams

I'm a new iphone owner.  I'm a little embarrassed to say that instagram was one of the main reasons that I wanted an iphone.... I know, I know.
I just love taking fun little snapshots of our day and keeping up with friends too!
Okay, enough about how great instagram is...

We had a great view of the Martin Luther King parade from our rooftop.

It was a really nice long weekend.  We're still settling into the new place, I guess I can blame the lack of blogging on that :)
Hope you all had a lovely weekend too.

a few of my favorite things

A few weeks ago I found some really cool things at the Southern Antique Mall.  I have been on the search for the perfect set of canisters for quite a while, and even though I wasn't sure if these were "it" I couldn't pass them up for only $12.  Now that they are sitting on my counter top, I've decided they ARE the perfect ones :)  I'm loving how everything is coming together around here.

this little beauty came from Michael's granddad.
we also found Michael's old Where's Waldo books.

and they kept Anne occupied for a good while...she's actually really good at finding him!
It's so fun finding little treasures :)
