weekly wardrobe: monochramatic

This week seems to be moving right along...which is fine by me because we have a really fun weekend planned!  Saturday we'll kick off the Christmas season with the Laurel Christmas Parade and Pancake Day.  Then that night we'll be celebrating Michael's 30th birthday!   Welcome to the 30's baby!!!

As I put this outfit together, I kept thinking how everything was in the same color family.  I still really liked it though.  It was just what I needed for our 3rd Thanksgiving celebration...comfort and ROOM!

I'm linking up over at the Pleated Poppy today.

Happy Wednesday sweet readers!

weekend photos: christmas decorating

This weekend we had thanksgiving with my family.  It was probably my favorite thanksgiving we've ever spent together.  Everybody hung around after lunch...we played Apples to Apples and Spades.  It was the best.  Unfortunately, I was so busy having a good time that I forgot to take pictures of our fun day at mama's. typical. :(
Then Sunday, we helped Michael's mom decorate her house for Christmas.  I'm glad we did, because it's probably the only decorating we'll be doing this season since we're moving out of our apartment in 3 weeks.
We got festive and made cookies, drank spiced tea, and listened to our favorite christmas tunes.
Anne was so excited to find her little elf :)
Is this not the sweetest little boy you've ever seen?
...a few of my favorite vintage ornaments.
Then Buddy the Elf, I mean Adam, made the most beautiful snow flakes.  We're still trying to think of the perfect place to put them!

And today the high is 43 degrees and I'm still listening to Christmas tunes.  I'd say it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around these parts :)

a very happy thanksgiving

Yesterday, we spent Thanksgiving with Michael's family.  It was really such a great day.  The weather was perfect, the food was good, and lots of good laughs took place.
We were all so happy to see baby Samantha. She's the sweetest little thing.
After lunch, Anne got us outside to make a leaf fort.  This quickly turned into a massive leaf pile for jumping and playing in :)
It was a beautiful day, that ended with a spades tournament like you've never seen.
Oh, the many reasons that I love this time of year!

Easy pumkin Pie

We made our first ever pumpkin pie this weekend.
It was really yummy.
So, I thought I'd share the recipe with you in case you are looking for an easy dessert to add to your thanksgiving meal.

You need:
1 pie crust (we used Pillsbury refrigerated)
1 can of pumpkin
1 can of evaporated milk
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
(preheat oven to 425 degrees)
1. Mix sugar, cinnamon, salt, and pumpkin pie spice
2. Beat eggs
3. Stir in pumpkin and sugar spice mixture
4. Slowly add evaporated milk
5. Pour into pie crust
6. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes, then turn down to 350 for 40-50 minutes (until knife come out clean when inserted in the center)
7. Cool for 2 hours.  Serve immediately or refrigerate.
Recipe found on the Libby's pumpkin can.
This would have been really great with a dollop of whipped cream on top.

Enjoy!

Weekend photos.

this was such a wonderful weekend.  Saturday, while the boys and Anne worked on the playhouse, Cyndi and I had a spa day! It was complete with a pedicure, facial, and massage and so nice! But I have to say, the facial was my favorite part...definitely going to want another soon!
We celebrated thanksgiving a little early with Michael's family since his dad works off shore.  It was really one of the best days we've had in a while.  The food was amazing, but the company was even better!
The girls in the kitchen...
...while the boys watched football.
We loved getting to spend time with Lily!
and of course, it's not a Trest party without a little rumikub!
We still have two more days of celebrating that we're looking forward to.
I LOVE the holidays so much!

out to school

Anne's little outfit made me happy today.
//outfit details// sweater, gymboree// skirt & tights, target// boots, thrifted// lunchbox, Goodbyn//
It was chilly out compared to how warm the past few days have been.  She kept telling me "I'm freeeezing, mama!"  It honestly wasn't that cold, and she had a jacket waiting in the car.
And that's another day off to school!
We are looking forward to the break for Thanksgiving holidays, which means time with family we haven't seen in a while, LOTS of delicious food, and watching sports that I don't normally care for on television.
What are your favorite Thanksgiving Day traditions?
xoxo, Dawn
