DIY Tuesday: banana ghosts

Hey guys!  I've decided to finally start somewhat of a blog schedule.  I've been wanting to do this forever, and just couldn't think of what I wanted it to look like.  I know there are tons of DIY's out there and probably most of them are cooler than mine will be...BUT, I think it will be fun and give me some consistency here on the ol' blog so I'm starting with a DIY Tuesday.  This may be anything from cooking, to sewing, to crafting...who knows :)  But today, we're making Banana Ghosts. I found this recipe here and thought it would be perfect for Anne's school snacks today...so here goes.

step 1. Peel and cut bananas in half.  Push a Popsicle stick in banana. Place in freezer for 2-3 hours.
step 2. melt white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Using a butter knife, spread white chocolate on frozen bananas. Place on wax paper.
step 3. Use small chocolate chips to create eyes and a raisin for the mouth.
step 4.  Put bananas back in freezer until you're ready to serve...And voila!  you have a semi healthy Halloween snack...

P.S. I apologize for the terrible pictures...I have THE worst lighting in my apartment.

  1. Yum! I bananas and chocolate, and these are so cute :)
About the lighting...does it help if you adjust the exposure (up a notch or two) either on your camera or once you get the photos on the computer?

  2. Love the ghosts. They would go well with some hot dog mummies I saw on a website. You wrap hot dogs in Pillsbury crescent roll dough. The hot dogs are the mummies and the dough is the wrapping. You cut the dough into strips and wrap the whole dog like a mummy except for a space at one end for the face. You can use mustard, ketchup, or peppercorns for eyes and a mouth. You can also just put eyes. Spooky. Google "hot dog mummies" and you'll see some pics.
