I just looooove Halloween...

this is what Anne kept saying the WHOLE time we were trick or treating with a little giggle here and there...it made my heart happy.

...and who could really blame her?

oh, I just have to mention that Hello Dearie is shipping 3 packages internationally this week!  We are so excited to be rocking and rolling on etsy again!  Thanks to all of our sweet customers!!!

the cutest mouse I ever saw :)

Anne had her Halloween parade and party at school yesterday. All of the kids looked adorable, but of course the little mouse was my favorite! :)

We are getting to keep baby Parker today, and we are so excited!

Super boy :)

Hello Dearie has entered the world of super heroes!  We made these little people dolls for a custom order, and I just love how they turned out!  The capes and clothes are removable.  These two are going to brothers, and I can't imagine the fun they'll have with these super hero dolls! :)

I hope you are all having a great Wednesday!  I'm cleaning, cleaning, cleaning...and taking a few pics later for etsy :) Fun, fun day!!!

DIY Tuesday: banana ghosts

Hey guys!  I've decided to finally start somewhat of a blog schedule.  I've been wanting to do this forever, and just couldn't think of what I wanted it to look like.  I know there are tons of DIY's out there and probably most of them are cooler than mine will be...BUT, I think it will be fun and give me some consistency here on the ol' blog so I'm starting with a DIY Tuesday.  This may be anything from cooking, to sewing, to crafting...who knows :)  But today, we're making Banana Ghosts. I found this recipe here and thought it would be perfect for Anne's school snacks today...so here goes.

step 1. Peel and cut bananas in half.  Push a Popsicle stick in banana. Place in freezer for 2-3 hours.
step 2. melt white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Using a butter knife, spread white chocolate on frozen bananas. Place on wax paper.
step 3. Use small chocolate chips to create eyes and a raisin for the mouth.
step 4.  Put bananas back in freezer until you're ready to serve...And voila!  you have a semi healthy Halloween snack...

P.S. I apologize for the terrible pictures...I have THE worst lighting in my apartment.

weekend in photos

This past weekend we were at a  youth retreat where Michael was playing music. It is always fun to hang out and relax on these weekends where I have no real responsibilities :)

...and you can't go near Picayune MS without stopping for a treat at Paul's Pastry Shop...sooo goooooood!

pumpkin patch finds :)

We had a blast at the pumpkin patch today with Anne's preschool class.  I always love that place!  Here is our pumpkins and sunflowers we brought home...if you'd like to see all of the fun pictures, they're here.  I've decided to actually use my flickr account.

Have a great night :)

just popping in...

So, I've been a little MIA the past few days.  I guess I needed a little break after Canton :)  This past weekend was well spent with my sweet family.  Oh, and I just have to say that Saturday I ran my farthest yet...6 miles!!!  I was super pumped about it and glad to do it with one of my favorite people.  I'm hoping to do 7 or 8 this weekend. My half marathon is in 6 weeks!!!

I've been working really hard trying to get our etsy shop updated the past two days. This should be a fairly easy task, except we have the WORST internet ever!!!  I'm not exaggerating at all.  It works great one minute, and terrible the next...it's so annoying.  SOOOO, it's a slow process, but it's happening :) No worries.  If you have a minute, you should pop over and take a looksy...and there's lots more to come.

Well, I will be back later with a real post..internet willing :)

Have a great Tuesday.

the low down

Well, all in all I have to say that our first craft show was great!  We were very prepared thanks to this awesome list of things to bring to a craft show.  We set up most of our booth on Wednesday evening and got there around 6am to put out the goods Thursday morning...the rumors are true about Canton shoppers, there were people walking around shopping with flashlights!  We were so excited to make our first sale that finally came around 8 ish.

 the Element did amazing...
our booth before the goods...

 dinner at Olive Garden :)

Around noon we realized that lots of people were loving our booth and our goods...they just weren't buying them.  We were a little worried that our prices were too high.  If you are an artisan, I'm sure you have been through the question of "how much do I charge?"  We have struggled with this since we started.  Most of our items seem to take forever to make, so we tried to take that into consideration when pricing. Needless to say, around 2:00 we tried to mark some things down, but really by then most of the traffic had already come through.  We still did really well for our first show, and I think we will definitely do it again. We are really going to try to alter some of our patterns to make them easier to make so we can charge less for them....we would love for everyone to be able to get something from hello dearie :)  and on the bright side, we have a great start of inventory for November to put on etsy!

We are so thankful for our family and friends that helped us be able to do this.  We could not have done this without your help!

the time has come :)

We will be heading out in a few hours to go to Canton Flea Market. I'm a little nervous but mostly just excited to have this experience.  I really have no idea what to expect but am looking forward to a fun time!  I will be back Thursday night/Friday to let you guys know how it went :)

I will be giving small updates via twitter if you're interested.

I hope you have an amazing day!

a night out.

After sewing off and on all day, I decided we needed a little break from cooking dinner tonight :)  We went over to Cici's pizza and relived our young married days while eating mac and cheese pizza...thanks to the $4.99 buffet, we could eat there while in college at least once a week.

Anne didn't really want her picture taken...she said Teddy did.

Next we headed over to the brand spankin' new yogurt shop.....  It was fun and yummy!!!  ...and I absolutely love that they charge by the ounce.  I can never eat a whole serving anywhere else!

so thankful for nights like these with my sweet little family :)

Josh and Emily's wedding cupcakes :)

I think the flowers turned out great....but the caramel apple cupcakes definitely stole the show :)

It was the most perfect night for a wedding, and definitely one of the sweetest ones I've been to.  Congratulations Josh and Emily!!!!

pumpkin roll

I personally have never eaten much pumpkin desserts. I guess I'm from the south and we kind of replace the whole pumpkin pie with sweet potato pie (or at least in my family.)  Is this normal???  Well, tonight Adam and Meghann made a pumpkin roll with homemade cream cheese icing...I was really excited to try it and OH MY GOODNESS was it divine!  I will definitely be making this again really soon :)  oh, and the company was great too!

the countdown begins...

Today I spent most of the day cutting out more owl pillows for Canton.  I really only have about 3 more work days...eeeek!  I am so so excited about going and seeing how this whole craft show world goes....and hopefully we will make a little moolah in the process :)  For those of you that don't know, we have been saving every penny Hello Dearie has made (minus some expenses) for a trip to Disney World for our whole family.  We are really close to our goal and are hoping next Thursday puts us over the top!  I have never been to Disney before, so I cannot even imagine how much fun it will be :)

I am beyond excited :)
