past and present

Rachel inspired me to share this post today.

*I was never a very girly girl growing up.  I would much rather have had on a pair of shorts and tshirt than a dress any day. I guess you could say I was a little tom boyish.

* I loved playing softball.  I started playing tee ball when I was 4 and played until I was 18.  I even played a little coed after that.

*One of my favorite musicians growing up was Mariah Carey.  I can remember when I was about 10, all I wanted for Christmas was her album "Emotions." Other favorites were Boys to Men, The Cranberries, and TLC.

*I went to 3 different schools from K through 12th grade.  I can still remember what I wore on the first day of school almost every year...especially the ones at a new school.

*I was a band nerd. I played flute, xylophone, then was in color guard.  Lucky for me, being a band nerd eventually led me straight to my husband...I'll have to share that story another day :)

*I was very adventurous, and not really afraid of anything...for example, I jumped out of a 40 foot tree into a river multiple times. I'm not sure if I did it because I thought it was fun or because I liked the attention. Maybe both.

*Since we lived in a small town, we walked and rode bikes everywhere.  Looking back it was very "My Girl" ish.

*I quit my teaching job last year to stay home with my 4 year old daughter and just because I needed a break.  Teaching public school is the hardest thing I've ever done.

*I live in a 500 square foot apartment with the two people I love most...I'm constantly dreaming about living in a cute little house with wood floors and lots of nooks but working on being content with where God has me for now.

*Next week I start a new job that I'm super excited about!!!

*I love to wear dresses and be girly...but I still like to be comfy too :)

*I got my hair colored today...I have tons of gray that I'm not quite ready to deal with.

*I'm a very decisive person most of the time.  I like to decide and then make things happen!

*I dream about living in other places, but can't imagine leaving our family or church.

*Thirty is fast approaching and I'm not too worried about it...everyone says the 30's are way better than the 20's!

Thanks for reading.  I would love to read your past and present posts!

  1. I loved this!
You sound like me, I was SUPER tom boy and doing every sport available to me. People don't believe that when I tell them now.
You MUST share the story on how you and your husband met. I'm a sucker for those stories.

  2. It's Bree and I love this Dawn! I'd love to hear about your new exciting job!

  3. Thanks y'all! It was fun to think about the past and then to see where I've come! ...and Kayla, I will definitely have to share my love story here soon!

  4. I want to hear more about the love story and new job as well :) This was fun to read. (and coloring definitely counts as dealing with the grays!!)
